Srinagar, Oct 3 (JKNS): The “Run for Peace” is organised by the Jammu and Kashmir Police IRP 20th Battalion at Parihaspora, emphasizing fostering peace and unity as part of the J&k police ongoing Civic Action Programmes and 150th Birth anniversary of Sardar Vallabhai Patel.
Students from various schools actively participated in this event, reinforcing its inclusive and community-focused approach. Distinct reward categories were established for boys and girls, with prizes and recognition distributed separately to encourage participation and fair competition across genders.
This initiative aligned with broader efforts by the J&K Police to motivate youth, build trust, and promote fitness and harmony within the community through targeted outreach and engagement activities.
Beyond the marathon, the IRP 20th Battalion organised volleyball tournaments at Government Middle School Yakmanpora, providing a platform for local youth to hone teamwork, discipline, and sportsmanship.
These efforts receive enthusiastic participation and are deeply appreciated by the local community for channelling young energy into positive activities.
Further, the Battalion has launched plantation drives centred on environmental awareness and restoration, such as the “Planting Seeds of Hope” initiative at the Armed Police Complex, alongside comprehensive cleanliness campaigns in line with nationwide Swachhta Abhiyan efforts.
These activities involve local volunteers and school children to strengthen environmental responsibility.
Additional outreach includes drug awareness camps and painting competitions, alongside educational support with stationery and book distribution for orphans and girls, reflecting a holistic approach to community welfare.
Collectively, these varied initiatives by the IRP 20th Battalion contribute significantly to promoting peace, health, community unity, and environmental stewardship in the region.
