Kupwara, Oct 1 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Secretary Atal Dulloo on Wednesday paid a visit to the historic Sharda Temple located at the Line of Control (LoC) in Teetwal, Kupwara. This marked his first visit to the LoC since assuming charge as Chief Secretary.

He was accompanied by Deputy Commissioner Kupwara Shrikant Suse, SSP Kupwara Ghulam Geelani, and other senior officials. On arrival at the temple, he was received by Sharda Committee coordinator Ajaz Khan.

The Chief Secretary, along with his wife, offered prayers at the temple. He was also felicitated with a traditional Sharda Shawl. On the occasion, Ajaz Khan presented him with a book on Sharda authored by Ravinder Pandita, Chairman of Save Sharda Committee.

Expressing gratitude, Ravinder Pandita hailed the visit, stating, “I thank Atal Dulloo ji for appreciating our efforts.”

During the interaction, Ajaz Khan requested the Chief Secretary to facilitate the construction of a Yatri Niwas and provide other essential amenities for pilgrims and visitors at the revered shrine.

The Sharda Temple at Teetwal, an ancient seat of learning and worship, has been a significant symbol of cultural heritage in the region. The Chief Secretary’s visit is being viewed as a major step towards promoting pilgrimage and preserving heritage at the LoC site. (JKNS
