Srinagar, Nov 19 (JKNS): Jammu and Kashmir Chief Minister Omar Abdullah on Wednesday said that assurances of peace made after 2019 have not translated into reality, as killings and blasts continue to claim innocent lives in the region.
Speaking to reporters, CM Omar as per news agency JKNS said the situation on the ground paints a starkly different picture than what was projected. “We were told that violence would end after 2019, but people are still dying. If it’s not in Delhi, it happens here,” he said, adding that Jammu and Kashmir has lived through consistent bloodshed for nearly three decades.
He said those overseeing security must answer for the ongoing incidents. “Why these attacks continue this question should be asked to those responsible for security. It is not in our hands,” he said.
Speaking about his visits to the families affected by the Nowgam blast, Omar said, “I visited five bereaved families yesterday and will meet two more today. This land has witnessed enough bloodshed in 30–35 years. It must end now.”
On Mission Yuva, the Chief Minister said that nearly 30,000 Detailed Project Reports have been approved, while banks have sanctioned about 9,000 cases. He added that around ₹400 crore has been released to young entrepreneurs in the last five months.
However, he pointed to a notable gap between project approvals and bank sanctions. “Approvals are high, but sanctions are significantly lower. We will work to bridge this gap,” he said, adding that the administration will continue to assess performance and address shortcomings to strengthen youth-led enterprise. (JKNS)
