Did doctors run away from Covid patients?

Srinagar, Mar 27, KNT: Covid-19 suspects are facing immense problems at Valley’s leading medical institute here in Soura Srinagar.
Some Covid-19 suspects are being brought to hospital by Police and some turn voluntarily. A large chunk of these suspects are females with travel history. The family members of some of the Covid-19 suspects who had gone to SKIMS Soura on Thursday told Kashmir News Trust that throughout the day suspected patients were made to wait outside the hospital while nobody was ready to collect their samples.
“Six patients including three females were made to wait outside the hospital from 10:30 to 4:30. They were neither kept in isolation wards nor provided any bed. When we brought the matter into the notice of a top doctor, he said there is no space for more patients as they have already collected the samples of 77 patients,” they said.
The family members said that ever Control Room employees admitted that they are lacking facilities and can’t help the suspected patients. They quoted a Control Room employee as having said that they don’t even have protective masks for themselves.
“After a day long wait, we approached Medical Superintendent who asked Nodal Officer for Coronavirus to arrange the beds for these patients, who were six in number. At 4:30, they were given beds. Samples were taken and we were asked to wait for three hours for the result. But, it is Friday and we are in the hospital, but report of the patients are still awaited,” they said.
They attendants of these Covid-19 suspects said that doctors and Para-medical staff at SKIMS Soura are scared of these Covid suspects. “Patients will heavily suffer if the number of Covid infections increase.”
Yesterday, a relative of sibling that were tested positive for Coronavirus disease alleged that doctors at Rainawari Hospital have left these kids on the mercy of God. “There are five kids of the same Natipora family admitted in the hospital. Two of them were reported positive and unfortunate part is that family still doesn’t know which two kids have been tested positive and which three are negative,” she said.
