Srinagar, Mar 28 A policeman was disengaged from service for using abusive language while asking people to remain indoors in view of lock down in north Kashmir district of Baramulla, a police official said on Saturday.
The action was taken after a video — in which the policeman was seen using abusive language while asking people to remain indoors in view of lock down to curtail spread of Coronavirus in the valley — went viral on social media, including Facebook and Twitter.
“During preliminary investigation, the video was found to be authentic and allegations that the policeman used foul language were also found to be true,” he said.
He said it was also found that policeman had shot the video at an isolated place in the apple township of Sopore as he was not a part of any announcement making team.
The official said that after taking cognisance of the issue, police registered an FIR against the personnel under relevant sections of law. “The policeman has been disengaged forthwith from the department,” he said.
Further investigation into the matter is in progress, he added.
