117 Bn of CRPF   Sanitization Drive in Rajbagh, Srinagar

In the face of threat of Corona virus, a sanitization drive was carried out by 117 Bn of CRPF, in the Rajbagh area of Srinagar, at the campus of Radio Colony. The Radio Colony of Srinagar houses 40 to 50 families of All India Radio employees. The team of 117 battalion of CRPF put its resources to this noble use and carried out an extensive sanitization drive. Sodium hypochlorite, a disinfectant, mixed with water was sprayed with the help of four spraying machines to sanitize the whole campus. All the metal gates, the roads, the lanes, by lanes, the flats, their doors, door knobs and handles, windows, window glasses, staircases, all of them were sanitized. The local civilian residents were distributed hand sanitizers and masks along with leaflets and fliers about the prevention against Corona virus. Envisaging the gravity of this pandemic, 117 Bn CRPF has been regularly sanitizing the barracks and living area of all its sub units. In order to quarantine the personnel reported from leave, duty, the unit has developed a full-fledged quarantine facility equipped with all essential items, under supervision of the unit doctor and paramedics.Keeping in view the lockdown in the country, 117 battalion CRPF extended its canteen facility to the civilian residents at the radio colony society. In this extension outlet, CRPF made available all the daily utility stores including ration, soaps, sanitizers, biscuits, tea, coffee etc, to the local residents. CRPF also marked social distancing circles at this outlet and encouraged the local residents to maintain social distance while coming to the canteen. The residents were very happy and pleased to get an access of this canteen as this was a great relief for them during the lock down.CRPF runs a pan India helpline “Madadgar” where any civilian in distress can call to seek assistance from CRPF. 117 Bn received a point from this helpline to come to rescue of 10-12 migrant laborers who were stranded in Srinagar and badly needed ration. 117 Bn made packets of ration that included rice, flour, pulses, spices, salt, soya nuggets, potato, onions, milk, sugar and tea and distributed them to these laborers.In adherence to the directions from higher offices, to manage the scare of Corona virus, all the units of CRPF, in Kashmir, are carrying out sanitization drives in their respective areas of responsibility. At the same time, all the formations/units of CRPF are chipping in with their contributions towards needy people and civil society in their AoR.
