First positive COVID-19 case in Ganderbal: DM appeals people to adhere to restriction orders to impede the community spread of COVID-19

GANDERBAL, APRIL 06: Immediately after the first positive COVID-19 case was reported from village Guzhama, tehsil Wakura in the district Ganderbal, District Magistrate, Shafqat Iqbal appealed general public of the district to cooperate with the district administration and to adhere to restriction orders to impede the community spread of the infection.
As a precautionary measure, the District Administration Ganderbal declared Guzhama village as Red Zone and its surrounding villages viz Batpora and Khanpora as Buffer Zones.
To break down the further transmission of the COVID-19, the DM stressed the concerned to ensure strict imposition of restrictions in the areas which have been declared red zones and buffer zones in the district. Invoking prohibitory orders under Section 144 of the CrPC, Disaster Management Act, 2005 and Epidemic Diseases Act 1897 he said that there would be no inward and outward movement of any person from the village declared Red zone and the people would stay in their homes to ensure complete lockdown
District Magistrate reiterated that particular areas have become more susceptible as far as further transmission of the COVID-19 virus is concerned and to stump further the transmission of the disease in the area it has become imperative to ensure strict adherence to the orders.
Meanwhile, The DM accompanied by SSP Ganderbal and ADM visited the area to monitor the situation and review the implementation of necessary orders in the area. The DM directed the nominated Administrator of Red Zone and Buffer Zones to ensure supply of essential commodities including food grains, LPG, Medicines etc. as per laid down protocols in the villages in close coordination with line departments and Tehsildar Wakura, BDO and SHO was directed to ensure the implementation of the directions in letter and spirit.
On the occasion DM also interacted with the Sarpanch and Lumberdar of the area and sought their cooperation in such tough situation by way of urging the people of the locality for implementation of the directions in letter and spirit.
Meanwhile, DC urged upon all those having any kind of travel history or have come in contact with the positive case to immediately come forward or contact with our established control room so that all the medical necessities are carried out to avert any eventuality.
