130 cases active
40336 people under surveillance: Government
Srinagar, April 08: Eleven more persons from Kashmir and 3 from Jammu were reported positive for Coronavirus infection on Wednesday, taking the total number of cases in J&K to 139.
J&K Government Spokesman, Rohit Kansal said 14 new cases were reported, 11 in Kashmir, 3 in Jammu. There are 130 active cases in Jammu, among them 27 in Jammu and 103 in valley.
“14 new cases today, 11 in Kashmir, 3 in Jammu. 139 cases in all now. 130 active cases, 27 in Jammu division, 103 in Kashmir. Good news too: 2 patients discharges from SKIMS (hospital), (sic)” Kansal tweeted.
As per the figures revealed to JKNS, fresh cases have been reported from Srinagar, Baramulla and Bandipora districts.
“Four patients are from Bandipora with history of contact with previous patients, while five are from Srinagar with travel history to Nigeria and one is from Tangmarg area of Barmulla, and another from Kupwara who had returned from Nizamudin New Delhi recently,” it said.
As per the Jammu Kashmir government, a total of 40336 travellers and persons in contact with suspected cases have been put under surveillance.
“A total of 8494 are in-home quarantine, 130 in hospital isolation, 518 in hospital quarantine, 23364 in-home surveillance,” the government said.
It said 7830 people have completed 28 days of surveillance.
As per the government, a total of 2269 samples had been sent for testing in JK, of which are 2116 negative and 139 samples positive (130 active cases, six recovered, three dead) while reports of 14 patients are awaited. (JKNS)
