10 days on, Shangus villagers continue reel under darkness, PDD unmoved

Srinagar, April 11: The residents of Shangus Rayakpora area of Anantnag against Power Development Department (PDD) for failing adequate power supply as the transformer in the village is repeatedly developing technical snags.As per the residents, the erratic power supply not only compounds the problems of people, but also causes hardships to students preparing for various competitive examinations. Gulzar Ahmad Itoo, a local resident told JKNS that due to the repeated damage of existing 250KV a transformer which is catering to the village often develops technical snags due to which they are suffering.As per Itoo, new transformers should be sanctioned for the village in view of the prevailing situation in the valley,” he said.“Despite paying electricity bills on time the PDD officials are unmoved on the issue,” Itoo said adding that technical snags to the transformer causes problems in the village. “We have to light candles and lanterns while studying,” he said.Another resident Hilal Ahmad told JKNS that  despite repeaed pleas to district administration and concerned authorities, things have remained unchanged on the ground. “We will take to the streets in case PDD fails to improve the power supply in the area,” he said.The residents have appealed District administration to sanction the new transformer in the area due to which residents will get sigh of relief from daily problems.
