Srinagar, April 13: The inhabitants of Alochi Bagh area of summer capital are brewing anger against the Public health engineering department (PHE) for failing to supply potable water to the area. The residents Monday stated that from the past several months, they are getting the portable from in the area, due to which they are suffering.Riyaz Ahmad, a local from Minto Circle colony Alochi Bagh told JKNS that there is a chronic shortage of drinking water in our area. We have not received a single drop of water from several months,” he said.Ahmad said people have to walk to different places to fetch drinking water and urged concerned authorities to look into the matter.Another local, Zahoor Dar, said despite repeated pleas to the concerned authorities, things have remained unchanged on the ground.“Repeatedly they have been given assurances but things remain unchanged,” he said. It is very unfortunate that even during the lockdown people are being deprived of the basic amenities, Dar said.The residents appealed lieutenant Governor led administration and Chief Engineer PHE to look into the matter, so that they would get a sigh of relief from water shortage in the area.
