Srinagar, April 21: The inhabitants of Shiekh Hamza, sector C of Eidgah area of Srinagar are up in arms against Public Health Engineering (PHE) department for failing to repair pipelines, which according to them get mixed with drainage water.According to a group of locals stated that from the past 1 week, the foul smell is emanating from the drinking water, posing threat to the lives of people in the area. “Ironically, our area has been declared a red zone and PHE has failed to look into the issue,” he said.“The water is yellowish in color and bad smell is emanating from it. The contaminated water has put lives of people on risk,” Iqbal said adding that despite repeated pleas to authorities things remain unchanged on the ground. The residents appealed Chief Engineer PHE and concerned authorities to resolve the issue on a fast track basis,” (JKNS).
