JKNS: Chairperson of Waqf Development Committee of Ministry of Minority Affairs, Govt of India, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi has demanded the restoration of 4G internet services in Jammu & Kashmir now. In her letters addressed to the Prime Minister Shri Narendra Modi, the Union Home Minister Shri Amit Shah and the Lieutenant Governor of J&K Shri G C Murmu, Dr Andrabi has requested the Central Government & the UT Government to re-consider the decision of limiting the internet facility to 2G only in J&K. “Amid the Corona crisis lockdown, the students community is relying only on internet for the education and 2G is troubling the students beyond imagination,” said Dr Darakhshan Andrabi in her communications. She requested the government to restore 4G in J&K keeping in view the impact of the low-speed of the internet on our students. “The low-speed internet has become troubling for the students who fail to take advantage of online classes, video-learning and social-media education portals. The parents throughout the state are also feeling irritated by this low-speed of internet,” said Dr Darakhshan. She said that with needed checks on the use of internet in the UT, the government should restore 4G in J&K. “We know that internet has been used for subversive activities and anti-social propaganda in J&K for long in the past and a few people may misuse the facility is the apprehension which can be dealt-with easily by strict cyber control laws. But the huge majority population is suffering because of a controllable apprehension of misuse by a few,” said Dr Andrabi. She said that after devising a possible check & control-mechanism, government can restore the facility of 4G-internet in the UT. “The majority of the population of J&K wants the facility for its unavoidable use at this point of time. The student community will be grateful to the government for this decision,” said BJP leader. She also appealed to the people of the UT to ensure that the misuse of the facility is stopped so that we can enjoy the high-speed facility of the internet without interruptions.
