Irrigation Department makes 11 major khuls functional at Doda

DODA, MAY 12: Irrigation Division Doda under the instructions of District Development Commissioner, Dr Sagar D Doifode has successfully restored/made functional 11 major khuls in Doda to carry out the agriculture and allied activities in smooth manner in the district.The officials of Irrigation Department informed that the khuls have been made functional by way of spot treatment, restoration; de-silting and improvement in speedy manner so that the farmers of respective areas will carry out their farming activities without any shortage of water supply.

Executive Engineer irrigation division Doda R K Khajuria said that it is for the first time that water has released from April 15, 2020 as per the site requirements of the farmers which was earlier released in the month of June. The khuls which are made functional includes Ghat khul, Bhabore khul, Shai Bari khul, Assar khul, Jathi khul, Mohalla khul, Jatheli khul, Trown khul, Khaleni khul, Jangalwar khul, Goha khul etc. He also informed that these khuls will cater to the area of around 577 hectares.Moreover, it was informed that one new Udhyanpur khul has been approved and incorporated in current financial year. The construction of which will be started soon, besides two defunct khuls Dongroo and Malwana will also be taken up in this financial year as soon as the funds will be made available to the department.The Executive Engineer also informed that all the works were carried out methodically keeping in view the norms of social distancing and to meet the peak irrigation water demand in the current Kharif season.
