Dir Agri visits SMF, Tapper

SRINAGAR, MAY 29: Director Agriculture Kashmir, Syed Altaf Aijaz Andrabi, today, has said that efforts are in full swing to make Seed Multiplication Farms (SMF’s) of the Department relevant to meet seed requirement of the farmers of the division besides generating revenue and employment avenues for locals.

This was stated by the Director while inspecting various sections of Vegetable SMF at Tapper Pattan in Baramulla district.

The officer said that the innovative ideas for the optimal utilization of farm lands is being encouraged and the department is committed to take all steps to make the Departmental Seed Multiplication Farms more revenue and employment oriented.

Syed Altaf impressed upon the concerned official to work with commitment and coordination to achieve tangible results on ground, so that the benefits of these farms reach to the farmer community at the grass root level.

The Director stressed upon the employees and labourers, working in the farm, to follow precautions and other safety measures like social distancing, use of masks besides following other SOP’s strictly while performing the agricultural activities in the farm.

Seed Production Officer, Manzoor Ahmad Shah informed that the SMF Tapper is spread over an area of 160 kanals where in 120 kanals of area have been covered under various vegetable seed multiplication activities, that include Tomato, Brinjal, Capsicum, Knol Khol, Coriander, Bottle guard, Chillies, Cucumber, Raddish, Peas, Methi and Beans SR-2.

Among others Joint Director Agriculture Inputs, Joint Director Agriculture Extension and other senior officers of the Department accompanied the Director during his visit.
