Police arrests 04 drug peddlers including 02 ladies, Contraband substances recovered

June 03: Police in a series of actions against drug dealings in Srinagar and Awantipora have arrested four drug peddlers including two ladies and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In Awantipora, Officers at a check point established near Toll Plaza Chursoo on NHW intercepted two ladies riding on a scooty bearing registration number JK04D-8194. Officers were able to recover 400gms of Charas from their possession. Both the ladies have been arrested and the scooty used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Case FIR No. 74/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Awantipora. Investigation into the case has been initiated.

In Srinagar, Officers at a checkpoint established at SRTC Bridge Srinagar intercepted two individuals identified as Feroz Ahmad Khanday and Tahir Ahmad Khanday both residents of Bilal Colony Qamarwari. During search officers were able to recover 27 bottles of codeine from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Kralkhud where they remain in custody.

Case FIR No.19/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in PS Kralkhud and investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.

Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
