DDC Rajouri distributes smart phones among Supervisors, Anganwadi workers under Poshan Abhiyan

RAJOURI, JUNE 05: To effectively monitor the nutrition levels in children, pregnant women and lactating mothers, District Development Commissioner Rajouri, Mohammad Nazir Sheikh on Friday distributed 1733 smart phones including 1668 and 65 among Anganwadi workers and Supervisors respectively under POSHAN Abhiyan.

Additional Deputy Commissioner Rajouri/PO ICDS Rajouri, Sher Singh, Child Development Project Officer Budhal, Supervisors and other staff members of ICDS were present on the occasion.

The initiative of distribution of smart phones among the Supervisors and Anganwadi workers has been taken under Poshan Abhiyan which is a multi-ministerial convergence mission and aimed at to reduce the level of stunting, under nutrition, anemia and low birth weight babies. It also aimed to enable growth monitoring of children with the help of auto plotting of growth charts, auto generate task list and home visit schedule. Under the mission, Anganwadi workers and lady supervisors are being equipped with smart phones pre-installed with ICDS-common application software that will facilitate the capture of the data and a six-tier dashboard will ensure monitoring and interventional mechanism.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC outlined the significance of technology for ensuring citizen-friendly governance. He asked the Anganwadi workers and supervisors to work in mission mode so as to uplift the health and nutritional status among the children, pregnant women and lactating mothers to make Rajouri a malnutrition free district.

He asked them to aware the mothers of the children to feed them healthy and nutritious food and keep them away from fast foods and cold drinks which badly affect their health. He also appealed them to reach every household to spread the importance of nutrition in the district.
