Advisor Sharma for using technological interventions for imparting quality education in JK

SRINAGAR, JUNE 11: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, KK Sharma today called for smooth combination of latest technological interventions with conventional ones for improving the quality of imparting the education especially in the COVID-19 Pandemic.The Advisor was speaking at a review meeting of the Education Department here today.Principal Secretary School Education, Dr Asgar Samoon; Chairperson JK BOSE, Dr Veena Pandita; Directors of School Education, Jammu/Kashmir, Anuradha Gupta, Younis Malik; Director SAMAGRA Shiksha, Dr Arun Manhas and other senior officers participated in the meeting.The Jammu based officers attended through video conferencing.The Advisor while discussing the recent initiatives being undertaken by the department for imparting education to the students appreciated the role in providing quality online education to the students through different platforms and television also.He asked the Directors of School Education Department to come up with a provision of dividing the curriculum which is being telecasted through DD as the NCERT would be providing the services of new channel, which would supplement the efforts of government in providing the education to the students of remote areas without smart phones facilities.The Advisor also directed for exploring the possibility of having community schools in those Panchayats which are not in the red zoning of COVID-19 and also taking the necessary precautions of having the protocols in place like provision of masks, sanitizers’ facility and also social distancing. He said that it would help a lot in providing education to the students living in far off and remote villages.The meeting also discussed the provison of providing solar power roof tops to around 2000 schools for providing uninterrupted power supply to the labs and ICT units of these schools.The meeting was told that the project being funded by the union MHRD Ministry would be started from July this year and completed next year. JAKAEDA is the implementing agency of the massive solar electrification program of the Schools in the UT, it was told.It was also given out that the leftover schools which do not have toilet facilities would be completed by July this year. Similarly, piped water would also be provided soon to all the schools so earmarked as project stands taken up under the languishing project of the JKIDFC. The major part of this programme has been completed, it was told.While referring to the Atma Nirbhar Bharat Abhiyan, the Principal Secretary informed the Advisor that the initiative E-VIDYA program meant for creating multi-mode access to digital online education would be taken and other initiative MANODARPAN meant for Psychological Mental Counselling of the students is also been taken up.
