Social Welfare Department distributes Motorized scooters at Budgam

BUDGAM, JUNE 17: Social Welfare office, Budgam today distributed motorized scooters among 16 physically disabled persons hailing from different areas of the District.

The distribution ceremony was held at Tehsil Social Welfare office Khansahab under the supervision of Deputy Director Social Welfare Kashmir, Najwan Nazki.

Speaking on the occasion, SDM Khansahab Syed Shabir Ahmad appreciated the efforts of Social Welfare Department in reaching to the needy particularly physically disabled persons as they often feel physically and mentally alienated from the society. He said this initiative will prove revolutionary in their future life as this will support them in empowering themselves and live respectable life ahead.

Other dignitaries present on the occasion include DSWO Budgam, Dr. Farhana Asgar and other concerned officers.

Speaking on the occasion, the Deputy Director Social Welfare Kashmir said that the Department has launched many welfare schemes especially for underprivileged and other weaker sections. She said the Department is committed to provide every possible help to the needy and specially and physically disabled persons. She said the department earlier also distributed same type of scooters to the needy ones in other parts of the district after due screening of their disability status.

Beneficiaries who received scooters today hailed the initiative of the department. They said this will prove a major helping hand for their future survival.
