All stakeholders showed reluctance in reopening Edu institutions: K K Sharma

Srinagar, June 20: The Jammu and Kashmir government on Saturday said that the stakeholders have shown reluctance in reopening the educational institutions across the Union Territory amid the prevalent situation. It also said that the administration is finding ways to reopen the schools at earliest.

Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Kewal Kumar Sharma in an exclusive conversation with the news agency—Kashmir News Observer (KNO), said that the stakeholders have not agreed over reopening of schools.

“All the stakeholders including parents, teachers, community Sarpanchs and Media showed reluctance in reopening the schools,” Sharma said, adding in Kashmir, the issue of reopening of schools was a matter of concern.

Sharma said that the reopening of schools in Kashmir division is the matter of concern for the government as the academic year is in the middle of the session, adding, “There is an urgency of reopening of schools. We are trying to find more solutions.”

He further said that in addition to online education, the government is trying to find more ways. “That’s what we are upto these days,” Sharma added. He also said that the government is trying to explore one more Television channel through NCERT so that the more areas will be covered through it.

Sharma further told KNO that “the government has not decided anything about the mass-promotion of primary or any other standard.”

Earlier, the Union Minister for Human Resource Development (HRD) Ramesh Pokhriyal had issued a statement about the reopening of schools wherein he had said that the decision will be taken in the month of August.

Earlier this year in March, the schools and colleges in Jammu and Kashmir reopened after a gap of more than seven months following the abrogation of Article 370 in the month of August.

In the second week of March, the government ordered closure of all education till March 31 that got extended multiple times in view of the pandemic—(KNO)
