June 23: Police in Sopore recovered a kidnapped girl and arrested the person involved in the crime.
On 20th of June 2020, Police Station Sopore received a complaint from a person resident of Arampora Sopore regarding missing of his daughter.
After receiving the complaint, Sopore Police started search to trace the missing girl. During search, officers were able to recover the kidnapped girl from the possession of one person identified as Ajaz Ahmad Ganai son of Mushtaq Ahmad Ganai resident of Warpora Sopore. Officers also learnt that the said missing girl was kidnapped by Ajaz Ahmad Ganai. The accused person has been arrested and shifted to Police Station Sopore where he remains in custody.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 155/2020 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Sopore and investigation in the matter has been initiated.
After fulfilling all medico-legal formalities, the girl was handed over to her legal heirs. Investigation into the matter is in progress.
Swift action by police against anti-social elements has been appreciated by the locals. Community members are requested to cooperate with police in curbing social crimes in their neighbourhood.
