DDC Bandipora calls for effective management of solid waste in town

BANDIPORA, JUNE 28: District Development Commissioner, Bandipora, Ravinder Kumar Saturday called for scientific disposal of Solid Waste in the district and directed the Municipal Committee Bandipora to come up with a plan after consulting experts for the same.

He said this during a visit to the current dumping site at Nussu. He was accompanied by Tehsildar Bandipora Rouf Iqbal, officers of Municipal Committee Bandipora (MCB) and other senior officers of the district.

DC Bandipora asked the officers of Municipal Committees to take concrete steps in segregation of waste at source for its safe and proper disposal.  He was informed that the MCB has distributed dust bins to the households in the town for segregation of waste at home and its proper disposal.

Ravinder Kumar asked the Officers to ensure waste collection and its disposal in the district with minimum impact on the eco system. He asked Executive Officers to prepare a DPR for the establishment of STPs at identified locations in the district besides establishing a Solid Waste Management plant for proper disposal of the solid waste under scientific guidelines.

The DC asked the concerned to take steps for collection and disposal of hazardous waste, e-waste and industrial waste and ensure air quality and noise pollution management in the district.

On the occasion he also directed fencing of 32 kanals of Dumping site at Nussu under 14th Finance Commission and asked the Municipal Committee officers to come up with proposal for Solid Waste Management at Earliest.
