SMC demolition drive continues, over Hundred structures acted against in fortnight..

The Srinagar Municipal Corporation (SMC) has acted on a number of illegal constructions including public complaints made against violators in the city.

Over Hundred demolitions were conducted for the last fifteen days in various areas across the city.The areas included Hamdania colony Bemina, Hyderpora , Sanat nagar, Raawalpora, Soura , Lal Bazaar , Zakura, Khanyaar, Batamaloo, Chanpora , Padshahi Bagh, Mehjoor Nagar,The SMC officials has also stopped work of all those structures at a very initial stage which had deviations in sanctioned building plans and the structures coming up without permission.The unauthorised constructions were both commercial and residential in nature..Commissioner SMC Mr Gazanfar Ali had strictly directed the enforcement wing
to act promptly in getting the illegal structures demolished on spot where ever found..SMC shall be continuing rigorously with the demolition drives with regard to unauthorized construction and will ensure that no illegal construction comes up in the city further stressed Commissioner SMC…“I make a fervent appeal to the citizens of Srinagar who aim to construct residential/commercial establishments to apply for proper building permissions from Competent Authority and not to take law and order in their hands” said Mr Ali.He further reiterated that people should desist from resorting to any violations in sanctioned building permissions as well and do away with any sort of illegal construction.
