BSF MULTI-SPECIALTY MEDICAL CAMP AT TANGDHAR (KARNAH),DIST. KUPWARA

Border Security Force organized its first ever Multi-Specialty Medical camp in Tangdhar, Karnah, Dist.
Kupwara on 19 November 2020. Though BSF has been running medical camps for the local population on
regular basis under Civic Action Programmes in the various part of Kashmir; but this was the first time it
roped in 22 specialists from Kupwara, Handwara and Srinagar. More than 2000 people availed the facilities
extended in the Camp and special equipment like wheel chairs, crutches, walking sticks, hearing aids and
knee caps were distributed to the needy ones. Boys and girls from NCC also volunteered for the camp and
sports items were presented to school and college students.
The Multi-Speciality Medical camp was scheduled to be inaugurated by Shri Rakesh Asthana, DG BSF but
his helicopter could not land due to bad weather and had to return to Srinagar from Chowkibal. On his
behalf, Shri R Mathu Krishnan, DIG, BSF Sector Kupwara inaugurated the medical camp.
Apart from providing treatment and general health check-up, the BSF Multi Specialty Medical Camp also
made people aware of their health status, COVID-19, HIV/AIDS, breast cancer, hypertension, diabetes etc.
The main objective of free BSF medical camp was to provide free and high-quality medical services for
poor population of backward areas of LoC and identify the common health problems in order to devise ways
of addressing them. The camp witnessed an overwhelming response from the villagers who were very happy
to receive the much-needed treatment in a very peaceful atmosphere and appreciated the goodwill efforts of
the BSF for the well-being of the Awaam. The DIG BSF assured the people of continued support and
cooperation by BSF in all aspects, at all times.
