Srinagar, Nov 25: “BJP will try to create violence and by sabotaging DDC elections, it will try to ensure PAGD candidates are made to concede defeat. If these elections are not sabotaged, people will en-masse vote for PAGD candidates to keep BJP at bay,” this was said by former Chief Minister and PDP President Mehbooba Mufti today.
In an exclusive chat with news agency KNT over phone, Mehbooba Mufti said that participating in democracy in Jammu and Kashmir particularly in Kashmir has become a crime.
“BJP wants to choke everyone that summons the courage and speaks up against what has been happening on the ground,” she said.
Mehbooba Mufti said the democratic set up in Jammu and Kashmir has completely collapsed. She said Kashmir has become an oligarchy where chosen few are ruling people and politicians.
“Even those politicians who believed in democracy has lost faith in the system and it is really horrible,” she said.
She alleged that PAGD candidates are not being allowed to canvass in these DDC elections.
“Our candidates are being caged and are not allowed to campaign freely. On the one or other pretext, these candidates come out and meet people. BJP candidates are being free.”
In response to a question, Mehbooba Mufti told KNT that that there is a clear message for the leaders of PAGD in the arrest of Waheed-ur-Rehman Parra.
“Waheed is very close to me and everyone knows he is innocent implicated in a false case. The cronies of BJP will become more active and will harass those who oppose BJP. There is no freedom for PAGD leaders and supporters,” she said.
