Advisor Baseer Khan conducts surprise inspection of receiving stations, workshop

Directs for strict adherence to schedule, maintain 24/7 customer care service

Jammu, Dec 10 : Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan, Thursday while conducting a surprise visit to receiving stations and central workshop of Jammu division issued several instructions to officers of Power Development Department for effective regulation of power supply and further streamlining the system.

During his visit to the receiving stations, he directed the officers to strictly adhere to the schedule already announced for both rural and urban areas and no unscheduled power cuts should take place. He also directed them for stepping up enforcement drives to reduce power pilferage and seizure of banned equipment and maintain a proper record of that on a daily basis.

Advisor was accompanied by Managing Director of Jammu Power Distribution Corporation Limited (JPDCL), Yasha Mudgal and other officers of PDD.

Speaking on the occasion, Advisor said that PDD is a priority sector of the government and has taken several proactive steps for improving power edifice in the UT of J&K.

During his visit to the Green Belt Gandhinagar receiving station, Advisor enquired about the schedule being maintained and the areas that are being fed by the receiving station. He asked the officers that it should be checked whether any rationalisation of staff is needed and deployment should be such that bigger areas get more manpower. He directed them to put in place customer care service so that people can register their complaints hassle-free on the toll free number.

Advisor was informed by the concerned Executive Engineer that the receiving station caters to 54000 households including areas of Shivaji Chowk, Gandhinagar, Dudhadhari temple, Last Morh. It was also given out that all the areas are metered and the power supply is being provided as per schedule and they replace any damaged transformer within 24 hours from the buffer stock.

While inspecting the Central Transformer Repair Workshop at Narwal, Advisor directed the officers to ensure that the damaged transformers are repaired within the set timelines. He directed them to maintain a board on which self explanatory detail is available. He also directed them to repair the transformers of essential services institutions on priority basis and the rest should be followed as first come first serve basis. He further said that sufficient buffer stock should be kept so that damaged transformers are replaced immediately.

Stressing on maintaining discipline in functioning of the department, the Advisor directed authorities to enforce strict adherence to duty rosters. He said that no laxity would be tolerated on part of any official with regard to well regulated power supply to the people.

During his visit to the Bathindi receiving station, he directed the officers to maintain a diary of the consumer complaints on a daily basis and the concerned officer should follow the problem to its resolution. He further directed all officials to work dedicatedly for addressing power related grievances of people timely and warned disciplinary action in case of non-seriousness.
