DC Ganderbal inspects restoration of essential services, Snow clearance operations

GANDERBAL, JANUARY 04: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Shafqat Iqbal today took whirlwind tour of various areas of district to monitor the snow clearance operation, restoration of essential services besides availability of healthcare services.

During the visit the DC personally monitored the snow clearance operations, restoration of electricity and water supply, besides availability of essential commodities like ration, medicines, cooking gas etc. in the whole district.

The areas which were inspected by the DC along with engineers of various wings include Wakura, Lar, Dab, Main town besides upper reaches of Kangan Sub-Division.

On the occasion the DC was informed that Snow has been cleared from all measures roads of the district besides snow clearance operation on other link and inner roads is in full swing.

Regarding restoration of electricity and water supply which are affected with snow, the DC was informed that most of water schemes are functional besides restoration of electricity will be ensured till evening in affected areas.

Earlier, DC visited District Hospital Ganderbal, PHCs and SDH Kangan and took stock of availability of medicines, power supply and heating arrangements there. He also interacted with the patients and directed the health officials to ensure quality health care facilities and heating arrangements to the patients.

The DC directed all the District and sectoral officers to ensure that all the facilities and services are restored and made available to the people in a bare minimum time which are distrusted due to the snowfall thereby putting their extra efforts besides conducting market checking to avoid hoarding and black marketing of essentials.

Meanwhile, the DC chaired a meeting at SDM office Kangan to review the winter preparedness in the Sub-Division.

SDM Kangan briefed the DC about the restoration of essential services, snow clearance operation and availability of essential commodities.

The DC exhorted upon the officers to ensure prompt action against the grievances of people and sought coordination among all line departments for early redressal of public issues.

Amon others, the DC was accompanied by the Additional Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Farooq Ahmed Baba, SDM Kangan, CMO, executive Engineers of Jal Shakhti, PDD and R&B besides other district and sectoral officers.
