January 05: Police provided helping hand to the people who got stranded on roads while travelling due to inclement weather in Awantipora, Bandipora, Handwara and Kulgam districts.

In Awantipora, Police deployed special assistance teams at various locations especially on Highway for providing assistance to the vehicles stuck on the roads due to inclement weather at Lethpora and Pampore. Police evacuated pregnant lady hailing from Awantipora to SDH Pampore in a departmental vehicle for medical treatment. Similarly another pregnant lady hailing from Dadsara area was shifted from Drumbal Tral to SDH Tral in a departmental vehicle of Police Awantipora for medical treatment.

In Bandipora, police provided assistance to stuck-up vehicles and civilians due to the blockade caused by heavy snowfall across the district.

In Kulgam, Police rescued 22 Gujjar Bakerwals who got stucked at higher reaches of Qasba Devsar in District Kulgam. A special team was constituted under the supervision of DySP PC Kulgam Shri. Arvind Kumar Badgal-JKPS and all the stucked persons were rescued safely and have been rehabilitated in Govt. Middle School Devsar.

Similarly, Handwara Police provided helping hand to people who got stranded on roads while travelling due to inclement weather at Watayeen, Chogal and Langate, Qaziabad, Handwara, Vilgam, Qalamabad. Also special Police assistance teams deployed at various locations especially on Highway for providing assistance to the vehicles stuck on the road due to slippery roads.

General public of these areas have appreciated the role of police for providing helping hand to the needy people in harsh times.
