Ganderbal police arrests 02 bootleggers; recovers 30 bottles of illicit liquor

January 23: Police in Ganderbal have arrested two bootleggers and recovered 30 bottles of illicit liquor from their possession.

Officers at a checkpoint established at Gulab Sheikh Crossing in the jurisdiction of Police Station Safapora intercepted an Alto car bearing registration number JK01R-4894 with two persons on board. They have been identified as Bagawan Patra resident of Odisha and Mushtaq Ahmad Rather resident of Ajas, Bandipora. During checking, officers were able to recover 30 bottles of illicit liquor from the said vehicle. They have been arrested and shifted to Police Station Safapora where they remain in custody. The vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

In this connection, a case FIR No. 01/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered in Police Station Safapora and investigation into the matter has been initiated.

Locals have lauded the efforts of Police and appealed to continue such drives in future as well. Police has resolved to act tough against inimical elements.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding anti social elements in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in anti social activities will be dealt as per law.
