February 08: Acting tough against social crimes, Awantipora Police have arrested 04 gamblers from a gambling site and seized ₹18120/- stake money.
A police party of Police Station Khrew raided a gambling site at village Mandakpal Khrew after following an input about gambling activities and apprehended 04 gamblers. They have been identified as Ghulam Mohi-ud-Din Khanday resident of Mandekpal, Umer Farooq Bhat resident of Pampore, Showkat Ahmad Lone resident of Shar Shali and Jan Mohammad Khanday resident of Meej Pampore.
Officers have seized playing cards and stake money of ₹18120/- from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to PS Khrew where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case FIR No. 05/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Khrew and investigation has been initiated.
Persons found indulging in criminal activities shall be dealt as per law. Community members are requested to share information regarding the crimes in their neighbourhood with the local police units.
