Advisor Baseer Khan visits Durga Nagar; Reviews facilities for Kashmiri migrants

JAMMU, FEBRUARY 17: Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Baseer Ahmad Khan, today visited non camp area of kashmiri migrants in Durga Nagar and took stock of facilities being extended to the inhabitants there.

Relief and Rehabilitation Commissioner (Migrant) J&K, T.K Bhat, Chief Engineer of JPDCL and other officers accompanied the Advisor during his visit to the area.

While speaking on the occasion, Advisor said that the government has already taken slew of measures aimed at improving the living standards of Kashmiri migrants.

Advisor directed the concerned officers to look into the issues of the day to day basic needs of the migrants to ensure them a comfortable life.

Maintaining that a sizeable population is living in Durga Nagar and its adjoining areas, Advisor said that any gaps in terms of vital facilities will be bridged in due course of time.

Earlier, Durga Nagar Welfare Committee of migrants submitted a memorandum of demands to the Advisor seeking an early redressal to the same.

They demanded enhancement in relief assistance for migrants, upgradation of facilities in Higher Secondary School, water facilities, better roads, augmentation of power supply, establishment of Relief Ration Depot and Allopathic dispensary in Durga Nagar, J&K Bank ATM, completion of upper storey of Community Hall, playfield, recreational facilities, Common Facility Centre and other demands.

Advisor assured the migrants that all their issues would be taken up with the concerned authorities for redressal.
