Gunfight breaks out in Badigam, Shopian

Srinagar, Feb, 18 (JKNS): Gunfight breaks out between militants and government forces in Badigam area of South Kashmir Shopian on Thursday.

According to the reports reaching JKNS, a joint team of Police and government forces launched a cordon-and-search-operation in Badigam.

As the joint team encircled the suspected spot, the hiding militants fired upon them. The fire was retaliated by the joint team, triggering off an encounter.

As per sources two to three militants are believed to be trapped.

A senior police officer confirmed to JKNS, the exchange of fire between the joint team and militants.(JKNS)
