DDC Pulwama inaugurates awareness/ training program for farmers at Pulwama

PULWAMA, FEBRUARY 22: The Department of Agriculture and Farmers Welfare department, Pulwama today organised awareness cum training program on Soil Health Management at Nikas, here.

The programme was organised with an aim to raise awareness among people about the protection and proper usage of land.

The camp was inaugurated by District Development Commissioner (DDC) Pulwama, Dr Raghav Langer.

Speaking on the occasion, the DDC hailed the efforts of Agriculture Department for organising such an awareness session and  urged upon farmers to strive hard to ensure better soil health by adopting efficient application of correct types and amounts of manure and fertilizers for the supply of nutrients so as to make their agricultural practices productive and profitable.

He appealed to farmers to adopt latest techniques and sustainable practices to boost the agriculture sector and increase productivity. He said that the base of farming activities should be widened so that the livelihood measures get augmented.

During the camp, speakers highlighted the importance of Soil Health and explained the tips of soil testing for better production while participants were trained about soil sampling, soil testing and the scientific ways of preserving the health of the soil.

On the occasion, various farmers were felicitated by the department for adapting organic farming practices.

Later, DDC distributed soil health cards among the farmers.

Among others, Additional Deputy Commissioner, Chief Agriculture Officer, District Agriculture Officer were present on the occasion, besides a sizable number of farmers participated in the camp.
