Maiden 2-day Chenab White Water Rafting Festival begins at Doda

DODA, MARCH 05: The first ever white water rafting festival was today organised by Bhaderwah Development Authority and JK Adventure Group here in the river Chenab at Premnagar Shibnote to promote the adventure tourism in the district.

 The festival, which will continue for two days, witnessed huge participation of adventure sports lovers and local public. The event is being held under the overall supervision of Deputy Commissioner (DC), Dr Sagar D Doifode.

Over 1500 people from across the district, especially youth attended the festival on day 1 and about 200 participated in the rafting trip from Premnagar Shibnote to Karara.

The DC alongwith the DDC Chairperson, DDC member Thathri, BDC Chairpersons besides MBBS students of first batch of GMC Doda participated in the event and also took rafting ride.

Apart from the rafting, the district administration has organised multifarious activities at the venue for the enjoyment of the participants which includes volleyball matches, tug of war, display of music etc.

The activities are being conducted under strict standards of safety measures and the people especially the youth of the district enjoyed the entire event.

The participants extended gratitude to the district administration for holding a youth engagement programme in the district.

Among others present at the festival were Senior Superintendent Police, Doda Mumtaz Ahmed; Chief Executive Officer, BDA, Dr Rajinder Khajuria, Assistant Commissioner Development, Prem Singh Chib, SDM Thathri, Athar Amin Zargar, SDM Gandoh, Pritam Lal Thapa, SDM Assar Rishi Sharma, besides senior officers from civil as well as police  administration.
