March 14: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested two drug peddlers in Kulgam and recovered contraband substance from their possession.
Officers from Police Station Devsar at a checkpoint established near Sopat Crossing intercepted two persons identified as Khursheed Ahmad Bhat son of Mohammad Ismail Bhat resident of Sopat and Sayar Ahmad Ganie son of Mohammad Yousuf Ganie resident of Devsar. During checking, officers were able to recover 155 grams of Charas like substance and two weighing scales from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.
Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 11/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Devsar and further investigation has been initiated.
Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law.
Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
