BJP Spokesperson and Chairperson of Waqf Development Committee of Ministry of Minority Affairs, Dr Darakhshan Andrabi has demanded a ‘Sustenance Incentive’ for the poor daily bread–earners in J&K during lockdown. “While Corona-lockdown is an effective measure for breaking the chain of infection in the society, it has fallen as an axe on the head of many poor daily bread earners especially in the whole of the UT. I request the Lieutenant Governor to announce a Special sustenance Incentive for the vendors and lobourers during the lockdown period,” said Dr Andrabi today. She said that she talked to many trade bodies and the daily-earners and found that the economic condition of these vendors and lobourers was very pathetic and they were craving for daily meals and other necessities as they are not able to earn their livelihood because of the lockdown. Dr Andrabi said that she communicated to the LG about the same and presented the genuine demand to him. She hoped that the J&K government would soon come out with the incentive for these thousands of people and their families. “This government under the leadership of LG Manoj Sinha Ji has done a lot for public welfare till now and this measure will be of great help to the people in need,” said Dr Darakhshan.

Dr Darakhshan Andrabi also requested the people to keep the Eid celebrations very simple and save money for lakhs of deserving and needy people around us in these times of crisis. She appealed to the well-off families to reach out with helping hands for the poor people around. Dr Andrabi applauded the efforts of the young volunteers helping people in distress.
