Robust mechanism put in place to combat 2nd wave Covid -19 pandemic: DC Pulwama

Briefs media on measures being taken to deal the arising situation

PULWAMA, MAY 15: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Pulwama, Baseer ul Haq Choudhary today said that the District Administration has placed a robust mechanism to deal with the situation arisen due to 2nd wave of the Covid -19 in the district.

While briefing the media today, the DC stated that in order to tackle the challenges mounted by COVID-19 pandemic effectively, the Administration has converted DH Pulwama  into a COVID facility where better medical and other facilities are provided to the Covid Patients.

He said that there are 575 Beds with adequate oxygen supply available at different locations in the district where 161 covid positive patients are being treated and by the end of this month the bed capacity would be enhanced from 1250 to 1300.

He further informed that 98 percent covid patients are treated in the district while only 2 percent patients are referred  to other hospitals.

Regarding availability of Oxygen, the DC said that 1300 lpm Oxygen Plant is supplying oxygen to the district which is further augmented by the availability of 550 – 600 oxygen cylinders available in the District.

There are 86 containment zones in the district besides 244 surveillance teams have been constituted to monitor the situation in these zones,  he added.

He further said that   COVID kits containing oximeters and essential medicine are being distributed to the Patients so that they can monitor the prognosis of the disease in home isolation.

The DC said that the Administration is dealing with the situation as per recommended guidelines and urged all the stakeholders to play an active role in combating the deadly disease.
