Srinagar, May 19 : Lecturer Pediatrics, Sri Maharaja Gulab Singh (SMGS) Hospital Jammu on Wednesday said that the second wave of COVID-19 is more infectious and is affecting children as well.
She said that there is a need to follow the Covid appropriate behaviour in letter and spirit.
Dr Pallavi Sharma, Lecturer Pediatrics, SMGS Hospital Jammu said that people must take it seriously as it affects children as well and there is need to educate our children about Covid appropriate behaviour so as to keep them away from the deadly virus.
Talking to the news agency, she said that the children are also at risk of catching the infection from within other infected members of the family and parents must take the symptoms in their children seriously.
She said fever, redness of eyes and loose stools are common symptoms shown by young kids and after showing such symptoms, the parents should test their children and consult a doctor immediately so as to save them from serious illness.
Dr Pallavi further added that the parents are delaying the testing and hospitalisation despite having all symptoms of COVID-19, which proves dangerous.
She added that the children must be educated about Covid appropriate behaviour and should be taught wearing masks, washing hands frequently and maintaining social distancing.
Dr Pallavi added that there are no vaccines available for children at present and thus following the Covid appropriate behaviour in letter and spirit becomes necessary to ensure that the children are not affected due to the virus.
She added that there is need of combined efforts from all walks of life to deal with the pandemic and get rid of it
