DC Shopian briefs media about Covid situation in the district Appeals people to follow Covid-19 SOPs to prevent further spread

SHOPIAN, MAY 20: The Deputy Commissioner (DC) Shopian, Sachin Kumar Vaishya today briefed the media about the  present situation of Covid-19 pandemic in the district and applauded the people for following all the guidelines,  SOPs in letter and spirit.

 Speaking on the occasion, the DC said that the recovery rate of Covid positive patients in the district is improving, while the death rate has also declined.

He said that imposing the lockdown and corona curfew does not mean that the people may suffer, but the aim of administration is to save precious lives of people. He appealed to the people to desist from coming out of their homes unnecessarily and asked them to stay home to avoid the spread of deadly virus.

The DC said that after imposing lockdown, there has been continuous decline in the number of positive cases and efforts are on to ensure strict adherence to Covid-19 protocols to break the chain of coronavirus.

Vaishya said that all the health functionaries are on their toes, working with great dedication to leave no stone unturned in facilitating the patients and providing them all the healthcare facilities. He said that more precautions are needed in the coming days.

He also said that all the Magistrates, Doctors and Police are cooperating well with District Administration and are working round the clock to break the chain of Covid-19 pandemic in the district.

Giving details, the DC said that there are 45 positive cases in the district while the recovery rate is increasing day by day. He said that 98 percent vaccination has been done and the process is on to achieve the cent percent target within a shortest possible time.

He reiterated that the District Administration is always on forefront and has enhanced infrastructure with better healthcare facilities in the District. He added that there is no dearth of health care facilities in the hospitals and health institutions are well equipped with oxygen, concentrators, bulk cylinders and other requisite equipment etc.

The DC stressed for strict adherence to the precautionary measures to curb the disease completely and said that District Control Room Shopian is functional 24×7 at Mini Secretariat Arhama Shopian and in case of any urgency people can contact on following numbers: 6006500451, 7889588603, 01933260825 and 01933260044.
