Director RDD visits B’la; reviews pace of ongoing developmental works

Directs officers to ensure timely payment of Wages of MGNREGA Workers, Restoration of Labour intensive Works

BARAMULLA, MAY 29: Amid the growing concern emerged due to 2nd wave of COVID-19 pandemic, Director Rural Development Department (RDD) Kashmir, Tariq Ahmad Zargar today issued strict directions to concerned officers for ensuring timely payment of wages of all the MGNREGA workers, adding that this will help them to avoid any distress that may emerge in the present circumstances due to outbreak of COVID-19 pandemic and the subsequent lockdown.

The Director made these remarks while chairing a meeting at dak bungalow Baramulla where he took review of ongoing developmental Works undertaken in RDD sector in the district.

The Meeting was attended by ACD Baramulla Yar Mohammad Khan, BDOs and other concerned functionaries of the department.

After taking a comprehensive review, the Director stressed to explore all avenues and possibilities for generating labour intensive works adding that such works can provide a potential employment in rural areas. He also directed that all the COVID-19 related advisories should be strictly followed at working/project sites so as to avert any kind of exigency.

Moreover, the director emphasized to ramp up the pace of work so that the target is achieved within stipulated timeframe. He also directed the BDOs and other associated functionaries to conduct field visits in their respective areas for monitoring the quality and standard of ongoing works.

During the meeting, the ACD briefed the director about the current status of various developmental works and enlisted several initiatives that have been taken during the current situation.
