03 drug peddlers arrested in Bandipora and Kulgam; Contraband substances recovered

May 30: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, police have arrested three drug peddlers in Bandipora & Kulgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In Bandipora, officers from Police Station Bandipora at a checkpoint established near Nishat Park Bandipora intercepted two persons identified as Raqib Ahmad Nadaf resident of Nebripora and Mir Raja resident of Nowpora Naz Colony Bandipora. During checking, officers were able to recover 414 Spasmoproxyvan capsules from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.79/2021 under relevant sections of law has been registered at Police Station Bandipora and investigation has been initiated.

Similarly in Kulgam, police party from Police Station Qazigund headed by SHO PS Qazigund during patrolling at Bonigam Qazigund NHW intercepted a person identified as Rajesh Singh son of Piyar Singh resident of Dogra Kud, Udhampur. During checking, officers were able to recover 500 grams of Poppy Straw from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No.119/2021 under relevant sections of law stands registered at Police Station Qazigund and further investigation has been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
