SKIMS Celebrated International Nurses Day­­” “Director SKIMS salutes work force of SKIMS for their services in ongoing pandemic”

The Department of Nursing Administration, Sheri-I-Kashmir Institute of Medical Sciences celebrated “International Nurses Day” to commemorate birth anniversary of “Florence Nightingale” pioneer of modern nursing. The International Nurses Day falls on 12 May every year and this year was deferred due to ongoing 2nd wave of the pandemic. The progamme held today focused on this year’s theme “A Voice to Lead- A Vision For Future Healthcare”.
Director SKIMS & EOSG, Dr. A.G Ahangar, while speaking on the occasion lauded nursing workforce at SKIMS for their dedication and significant contribution during the pandemic. “The success story of the SKIMS in managing ongoing COVID-19 is known to one and all and the frontline workers including doctors, nurses, paramedics, engineers and Administration all played vital role and I salute one and all”, he added. Dr. A.G Ahangar also paid rich tributes to nursing staff who lost their lives due to COVID-19. He shared his solidarity with all those risked their lives and some of whom succumbed to the risks as well as some with their near and dear ones including in particular with reference to Ms Haseena Wani and Ms. Tawheeda, the most respected colleagues who served at SKIMS.
Additional Director, Riyaz Ahmad Wani, congratulated all the Nursing Staff at SKIMS for their contribution during the pandemic.
Dean Medical Faculty, SKIMS, Dr. Omar Javed Shah, hailed role of nursing Administration at SKIMS and applauded them for their contribution towards patient care.
Medical Superintendent, SKIMS, Dr. Farooq A. Jan, outlined the role of Nursing Administration in patient care management during current crisis. He asserted that role of “Nurse” in patient care management is significant and this area of critical importance needs to be prioritized for efficient delivery in better patient care.
Incharge Nursing Superintendent, Ms Hasina Sofi welcomed the guests and elaborated on the skills and contribution of life saving services of the Nurses, with particular contribution in the Covid scenario and thanked administration of SKIMS for continuous support.
The function was attended by HOD’s/ Heads of Sections, Principal Nursing College, Faculty SKIMS, Nursing Staff and Nursing Faculty, Administrative Heads and Students.
