Ganderbal: The prominent Socio-Political activist and media person from Ganderbal, Mohammad Amin Shah has urged Deputy Commissioner, Ganderbal to overview the functioning of Municipal Council Ganderbal (MCG).

Shah said it’s disgusting to see heaps of stinking garbage carried and dumped at the main road infront of the Mini Secretariat Complex every day. He said this health hazardous wastage and stinking garbage makes people on road to spit and vomit, which is degrading the image of Ganderbal town.

Mohammad Amin said that DPRs were made and funds were released to MCG for making the segregation and waste management plant at Safapora. Land was alloted and it was said that MCG is going to take new leaps in providing a system of proper health and hygiene, but it seems that the statements and promises were mere an eye wash.

Shah said that at Duderhama bridge on Duderhama-Safapora road and at Beehama on Srinagar-Kangan road, both places present an unpleasant and unhygienic look, which is ultimately degrading the reputation of this healthy district. He asked if municipality is generating ample funds from collections and other means, then why is this institution not able to make adequate arrangements of waste management?

He said if MCG continues to dump such contamination on road sides, it will give birth to an epidemic soon and the people of Ganderbal will have to face worst times ahead.

Shah said that he will take up this urgent matter with DC Ganderbal and will hopefully get people out of this foul smelling disease threat soon.
