D&FCO conducts checking of drug sale establishments during special drive at Sgr, B’gam

Issues show cause notices to 27 Retail/ Wholesale establishments, closes 07 on spot for various violations   

SRINAGAR, JULY 20: The Drugs and Food Control Organization (D&FCO) during a special drive conducted at Srinagar and Budgam inspected 50 drug sale establishments and issued show cause notices to  27 Retail/Wholesale establishments of which 07 were closed on spot for various violations.

The action was taken against the erring drug establishments for contravening certain clauses of Drug and Cosmetics Act including maintenance of sale and purchase records, not storing drugs properly, unhygienic conditions of premises and non-issuance of bills/cash memos.

Meanwhile, the inspection was carried out by D&FCO on the directions of Divisional Commissioner Kashmir to curb the Psychotropic/ Habit forming. And in this regard various teams have been constituted to carry out comprehensive market checking of drug sale establishments of district Srinagar and Budgam.

The teams comprise 3-4 Drug Control Officers and Inspectors from Legal and Meteorological Department.

During the drive thorough inspections were conducted and on spot instructions were issued to the license holder’s for strict adherence to the conditions of the license. The Chemists were asked to maintain sale and purchase records of various drugs properly, to maintain storage conditions of the drugs as per their requirement and issue bills/cash memos regularly.

They were also sensitized to retain the photocopy of the prescription wherein Schedule H1 and Psychotropic drugs have been prescribed for record and reference purpose so that mis-use of such drug is minimized.

The general public is informed through the medium of this notice to lodge complaints with regard to any violation/discrepancies encountered against any drug sale establishment on department’s helpline no. 0194-2495191 or e-mail at deputycontrollerkashmir@gmail.com
