Police arrests 03 drug peddlers in Kulgam and Budgam; Contraband substances recovered

August 02:  Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested three drug peddlers in Kulgam & Budgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

In Kulgam, officers from Police Post Mirbazar at a checkpoint near FCI Mirbazar intercepted a vehicle bearing registration number JK02BM-2968 driven by Diljeet Singh son of Darshan Singh resident of Simbal Jammu. During checking, officers were able to recover 01 kg poppy straw from his possession. He has been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Similarly in Budgam, officers at a checkpoint established at Shiekhpora Budgam intercepted two persons roaming in suspicious conditions carrying some bags. They have been identified as Sajan Kumar son of Ashok Kumar resident of Ludhaina Punjab and Gurjant Singh son of Baldev Singh resident of Ferozpur Punjab. During checking, officers were able to recover 02 kgs of poppy straw concealed in bags from their possession. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where he remains in custody.

Accordingly, cases under relevant sections of law have been registered in respective Police Stations and further investigations have been initiated.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
