DC Ganderbal visits cloudburst hit areas of Kangan.Distributes relief among affected families

GANDERBAL, AUGUST 04: Deputy Commissioner Ganderbal, Krittika Jyotsna today visited cloudburst hit areas of Kagan sub division to have firsthand appraisal about the restoration of affected essential services and to assess the ground situation arisen after the cloudburst hit these villages.

During visit, the DC was accompanied by Additional District Development Commissioner, SDM Kangan, Tehsildars of Kangan and Gund and other officials of line departments.

The DC conducted on-site inspection of devastation caused by recently flash floods which were triggered by excessive rain and cloudburst in Surfraw and Hariganwan villages.

On the occasion, the SDM Kangan briefed the DC about the relief and rescue operation taken and said that all essential services are also restored in affected villages.

The DC directed the SDM Kangan to take immediate measures for repairing the damaged infrastructure likes bridges, roads and culverts besides, to assess the damages in livestock, crops and property at an earliest for necessary actions.

Meanwhile, the DC met with the villagers who apprised her about the difficulties being faced in these villages. The DC said that the purpose of visiting these areas is to assess the ground situation and to provide each and every possible relief to the victims. She also assured them that district administration has taken all possible steps for restoring normal life in affected villages.

Earlier, Jyotsna along with DDC member and local PRIs distributed ration packets among the affected families.
