DGP J&K visits APC Zewan; takes stock of Independence Day Parade preparation

Tours Srinagar city; chairs officers meeting at PCR

Srinagar, 05 August: The Director General of Police J&K Shri Dilbag Singh today visited APC Zewan to take stock of the forthcoming Independence Day Parade preparation, and visited different places of district Srinagar to review on ground security and deployment of personnel within the capital city. He also chaired officers meeting at PCR in the afternoon.

In the forenoon, the DGP J&K accompanied by DIG Central Kashmir Range Shri Amit Kumar took stock of preparation for the Independence Day Parade at the Armed Police Complex, Zewan. He inspected the full rehearsal of the parade in which contingents of BSF, CRPF, ITBP, JKAP, IRP, J&K Ladies Police, District Police Srinagar, Fire & Emergency Services, UTDRF and Forest Protection Force are participating on the tunes of Band contingents of the BSF, CRPF and J&K Police.

The DGP while interacting with the parade contingent commanders, nodal officers from JKAP/IRP Battalions and other forces directed that the Independence Day Parade should be appealing. He directed that all the participants of the parade and other support staff should prepare for the event with full energy and enthusiasm.

He directed the officers that during preparations and rehearsals of Parade there should be no compromise on the COVID-19 protocols. He emphasized upon officers that all the necessary measures should be taken to follow the health advisories issued from time to time by the authorities.

CO JKAP 9th Bn Shri Manzoor Ahmad Dalal, CO JKAP 12th Bn. Shri Sanjay Singh Rana, Dy.CO JKAP 12th Bn Shri Fayaz Ahmad and other gazetted officers of Police and other security forces were present during the visit.

The DGP also took a round of the area near the Parade ground and directed the officers to prepare plans for renovation of family quarters and the infrastructure on the campus. He directed the officers to take keen interest in organising fitness and sporting programmes to enhance the fitness levels of officers and personnel.

Later on the DGP J&K accompanied by DIG CKR Shri Amit Kumar and SSP Srinagar Shri Sandeep Choudhary visited different places of the Srinagar city. During the tour, he visited Nowgam, Sanat Nagar, Batamaloo, Bemina, Qamarwari, and Khanayar areas. The tour was aimed at taking stock of ground security measures and deployment of forces in the capital city.

In the afternoon, the DGP J&K chaired meeting of senior officers from Police, CRPF and BSF to review the overall security scenario of the valley. The meeting was attended by Spl. DG CID, J&K Shri R. R. Swain, Spl. DG CRPF J&K Shri Sanjay Arora, IGP Kashmir Zone Shri Vijay Kumar, IG BSF Kashmir Shri Rajesh Mishra, IG CRPF (Ops) Kashmir Ms Charu Sinha, DIG CKR Shri Amit Kumar, SSP Srinagar Shri Sandeep Choudhary and other officers.

In the meeting, the DGP emphasized upon the officers to be alert and cautious as the anti national elements are hellbent to disturb the peaceful environment. The senior officers briefed the DGP, J&K about the security scenario in their respective jurisdiction.

SRINAGAR, AUGUST 05- Advisor to Lieutenant Governor, Rajeev Rai Bhatnagar today chaired a meeting of School Education Department (SED) to review the preparations of department for celebrating the 75th Independence Day. He asked them that the covid appropriate behavior should be strictly followed while celebrating this important day. While highlighting the role of PRIs and local communities in the celebrations, Advisor Bhatnagar also discussed tree plantation , sports competitions, cultural events etc as part of the celebrations. The Advisor, while stressing on cleaning the schools beforehand, directed the officers to carry out dedicated cleanliness drives across all schools so that this important festival is celebrated with dignity, decorum and full enthusiasm. He further asked the officers to finalize all the arrangements for the online essay competition, painting competition, patriotic song competition and others, which are part of ‘Azadi Ka Amrut Mahotsav’ activities so that the winners can be felicitated during the Independence Day celebrations at their district headquarters. He also directed them to arrange three prizes for each district for the winners of these competitions. On the occasion, both the directors gave an overall view to the Advisor about the preparations regarding Independence Day celebrations in their respective divisions.
