On the auspicious occasion of Raksha bandhan, an event was organised at Army Camps of Ganderbal wherein more than 150 local women and girls of age 10 to 35 years tied Rakhi on the wrist of the troops at Dodarhama, Chak-I-Dara, Gutlibagh and Dagarpura Army Camps in Ganderbal Dist .The event was organised with the aim to spread the essence of rakshabandhan in which the sacred thread signifies the bond between a brother and a sister. The brother gives her a token gift and a promise to protect her.The local girls tied rakhi to the troops and wished them protection, prosperity and happiness. The girls were presented gifts and chocolates in return. The event was significant in boosting the bonhomie between the Army and the local populace.
