03 notorious drug peddlers arrested in Budgam; Contraband substances recovered

August 30: Continuing its efforts to eradicate the menace of drugs from the society, Police have arrested 03 notorious drug peddlers in Budgam and recovered contraband substances from their possession.

Officers from Police Station Budgam at a checkpoint established at Dafpora Nasrullapora intercepted a vehicle (Eco Van) bearing registration number JK04E-9755 with 03 persons onboard. They have been identified as Jahangir Ahmad Mugloo@Jan Kandeel son of Abdul Rashid Mugloo resident of Putlibagh, Firdous Ahmad Dar son of Habibullah Dar resident of Nasrullapora and Manzoor Ahmad Dar@Jakass son of Farooq Ahmad Dar resident of Nasrullapora Budgam. During checking, officers were able to recover 2.80 grams of Heroin, 5Kgs of codeine based syrup in a plastic container, 02 bottles of codeine and 471 Alprazolam tablets from the said vehicle. They have been arrested and shifted to police station where they remain in custody. Vehicle used in the commission of crime has also been seized.

Accordingly, a case vide FIR No. 276/2021 under relevant sections of law  has been registered at Police Station Budgam and further investigation set into motion.

Community members are requested to come forward with any information regarding drug peddlers in their neighbourhood. Persons found indulging in drug peddling will be dealt as per law. Our consistent actions against drug peddlers should reassure the community members that we are making efforts to keep our society free from the scourge of drug menace.
