Srinagar, 03 September: In wake of restrictions which were imposed by authorities across the Valley in order to maintain law and order situation after demise of hardline separatist leader Syed Ali Shah Geelani.

The stranded passengers were seen moving from pillar to post in search of finding convenient cab service which will not overburden their travelling expenses.

As per Daily Gadyal/ JKNS, several passengers accused the travel operators of TRC, charging exorbitant fares from passengers by taking advantage of prevailing uncertainty which engulfed soon after the news of demise of hardline separatist leader spread like a wildfire.

“This is sheer injustice as I am being asked to pay Rs. 1500 for commuting to Banihal from Srinagar which is merely 80 kms,” said Ab Rashid from Srinagar.

He also said that the drivers were reluctant in making an concession on the fares which were three folds more normal.

He further added that, “The absence of concerned authorities on grounds have lended a free hand to these buggers who don’t adhere to the Government fixed fares.”

The fresh restrictions in Kashmir has been imposed by security agencies to avoid any law and order situation which was expected to take place in the wake of death of separatist leader.

Apart from restrictions, partial gag on communication including mobile internet was put in place to avoid rumour mongering.

Another passenger Shilesh Mishra told Daily Gadyal/JKNS, “I have heard and seen alot of positive things about the people of Kashmir but here today I am experiencing treachery and open loot by taxi operators operating from Srinagar- Jammu.”

“The taxi drivers are behaving in an improper manner while we oppose their demanding fares and the unfortunate part is that no one is here to check them,” he added.
