WOMEN’S T-10 CRICKET CHAMPIONSHIP FINALS PLAYED AT GALIZOO

Handwara Young Stars played Ziddi Gujjar Warsun for 3rd position and Star Sports AGS Wayne played Handwara Red Wings for Finals

The finals of the Kupwara Women’s T-10 Cricket Championship organised by Indian Army, Kupwara Terriers, was held at Galizoo cricket ground today in Kupwara.

This championship is the first of its kind organized in Kupwara by Kupwara Terriers and District Cricket Association Kupwara.
The aim of the championship was to give the women a chance to showcase their talent in the field of cricket.

The championship began on 20 Sept with six teams participating in the tournament. The teams comprised of girls between the age group of 10 to 20. The players showed exceptional zeal and excitement.

The event was attended by local girls supporting their favourite teams , students from Army Goodwill school Wayne and Trehgam, beneficiaries of JSS Kupwara, local elders and children, also in attendance were Brigadier Manoj Joshi Commander Hajipir Brigade, Col NavalGatti CO 41 RR with Col Swaraj Bhattacharya Commanding Officer Kupwara Terriers and other Army officials.

The match for 3rd position was between Ziddi Gujjar Warsun and Young Stars Handwara. Youngstars Handwara won the match by 5 wickets and lifted the trophy for 3rd position, woman of the match was Rehana Akhtar.

The final was between Star Sports Army Goodwill School Wayne and Handwara Red Wings. AGS team scored 66/9. Handwara Red Wings won by 8 wickets and lifted the trophy for the championship. Woman of the match was Sofi Nusrat and woman of the series was Zayeda Nabi of Handwara Red Wings.

The winners were awarded the certificates, trophies and cash prizes by the officials and Ladies from the Army.

The participants thanked Kupwara Terriers for providing the girls this opportunity to work showcase their talent. Kupwara terriers, Indian Army remains in the forefront of encouraging sporting events in Kupwara, to boost the culture of sports and enable the youth to come out and participate in sporting activities.
